Research on the Development Strategy of New Materials for Emerging and Future Industries

Engineering Science in China, 2024,26(1):23-34. Editor's Note New materials are the foundation of the development of emerging industries and future industries, an important field to seize the commanding heights of technological and economic development, and an important driving force for my country to promote new industrialization. The new material industry plays a fundamental and leading role in supporting the development of the national economy, ensuring national security, winning international competition and realizing the green development of industry. The research team of Academician Tu Hailing of the Chinese Academy of Engineering published an article "Research on the Development Strategy of New Materials for Emerging Industries and Future Industries" in the first issue of the Journal of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Science in 2024. Facing the development needs of cutting-edge technology and emerging fields, this paper analyzes the opportunities and challenges faced by the development of new materials in the future industry, puts forward the key direction and development path of new materials for emerging industries and future industries, and puts forward countermeasures and suggestions, in order to provide basic reference for China to build an independent, controllable, safe, reliable and competitive new material industry system.
